AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi netted two goals in his side's 4-2 win over Boca Juniors in the Club World Cup final, and was scarcely able to contain his joy afterwards...

Filippo 'Pippo' Inzaghi was struck dumb by his side's 4-2 win over Boca Juniors in the Club World Cup final in Yokohama.

"I'm speechless," he told reportes after the historic final.

"I thought that I'd already fulfilled my destiny with Athens [Champions League], Monte Carlo [UEFA Super Cup], and beating Gerd Muller's [European goalscoring record], but now I've found that there is more."

Having helped Milan to the accolade of world's top side, Pippo declared himself to be in great shape.

"I'm in good physical condition and with this team at my side, everything feels easier," he continued.

"This is the perfect way to end a fantastic era that's seen us make a complete turnaround. With honour, we represented Italy in front of the world."

Calciopoli indeed seemed a long way away in Yokohama, at least for the rossoneri faithful.

The media reaction to the impending arrival of Fabio Capello seems rather familiar to the wave of enthusiasm that greeted Sven-Goran Eriksson's appointment as England manager – a man in a smart suit with a record of success in Italian and European football and someone with a different style to his predecessors (Eriksson was 'tactically astute' while Capello is a 'disciplinarian').

When Eriksson was appointed I bored friends and colleagues with my rather pessimistic take on the Swede's likelihood of success at England and I'm afraid I'm going to do the same with Capello. So, as a balance to the euphoria, here are 10 reasons to be sceptical of Don Fabio's chances with England:

1. The best reason for appointing Capello is his record. Yes, Capello has won league titles with AC Milan, Juventus, Roma and Real Madrid and if he were now the coach of Brazil I would put my money on them winning the next World Cup. Likewise I am sure that he would perform well in England with Chelsea or Manchester United. But Capello has never been in the position of having to win with a mediocre team and no transfer budget which is exactly what the FA are asking him to do. In this respect he is in uncharted waters.

2. I've said it before – and I'll say it again: there is a huge risk in appointing an England manager who doesn't speak English. As well as dealing with a totally different football culture to England and Spain, Capello will have the handicap of not being able to communicate directly with anyone on the team. Think about it.

3. Not being able to communicate directly with any of the Premier League managers will be a major drawback when it comes to those necessary chats about availability for friendly matches. "Buongiorno Signor Ferguson…"

4. … which is hardly going to be helped by him appointing Italian coaching staff. If the reports are true, this is a move which will surely alienate some potential sources of solid advice and help from, say, the likes of current goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence. Wouldn't someone like David Platt (an Italian speaker who has been part of the FA coaching set-up) or Italophile ex-England player like Ray Wilkins be more use than a Serie A functionary such as Franco Baldini? (By the way, what on earth is Baldini going to do at the FA? He was a 'Direttore Sportivo' at Roma which meant he was in charge of player contracts and transfer dealings along with the various 'political' tasks that are considered indispensable at Italian clubs. He has zero coaching experience).

5. Temper, temper. When Capello loses it, he really loses it. England have never had a manager like that and it will be fascinating (and amusing) to see how the players and media react to Capello when he goes all 'furibondo' on them. The phrase "hairdryer treatment" doesn't come close…

6. Tactics. Apart from the spectacular Milan team he inherited from Arrigo Sacchi, Capello's success has been built around tight defending, a solid and patient midfield and a reliance on sparks of genius up-front. English players grow up bursting to get forward and attack – Capello, like Eriksson, will have to try and restrain that instinct. His teams have always played Italian style football – it will be fascinating (but probably not amusing) to see if this current crop of England players can adapt to Capello's way of playing. It is another question entirely if the best way to bring success to English footballers is to try to make them play like Italians…

7. Italian coaches don't travel well. Apart from Giovanni Trapattoni's brief moment at Bayern Munich can you name an Italian coach who has been truly successful outside of southern Europe?

8. Does he rate English players? Capello has signed players from all over the world in his career – guess how many English players he has signed? That's right – nulla.

9. There is probably a good reason for the above — He's not daft, how many English players enjoyed success playing under Italian coaches?

10. The call of 'Mamma Italia'. Here is a scenario – the patriotic and conservative Italian Capello finds it hard to settle in England. Next summer Italy go out in the first round of Euro 2008 and sack Roberto Donadoni. The favourite for the Azzurri job is…?

今天又收到每年一度的圣诞信，来自10多年前的外教Bob & Bob's. 依旧是向我们描述他一年的精彩生活，来中国教孩子们口语、并且看望他十几年来在中国各地的学生；长春、武汉、广州、深圳等等。坏消息是他做了一个手术，好消息是他已经恢复健康。在新的结尾，他还问了我一个问题，关于一个URL，他说这个页面中有他和他夫人的名字，问我是否知道这个页面的内容。我连上去一看，是我的前任blog，当时他来北京，我曾经过去探望他。然后记录了一下那美好的回忆。估计是Bob搜索自己和夫人名字的时候，发现了这个中文网页，不知其所来问问我。。。Google 伟大！祝Bob一家身体健康！

直道买了房子才知道，新房子还要开荒

两个师傅早上9点一直干到晚上7点，实在太辛苦了。。

最后稍微多给了点儿表示心意

因为经常做夜班车，距离又远，所以和大部分师傅都经常聊聊

谈不上熟不过也是那么个意思

 Inzaghi eyes World title

Record-breaking Pippo Inzaghi wants another place in the history books as Milan jet off to Japan for the Club World Cup.

In last night's 1-0 Champions League win over Celtic, the hitman became the most prolific ever striker in UEFA competition with 63 goals, as Gerd Muller's seven in the Fairs Cup are not recognised.

"There was a bit of confusion at the start, then thankfully the situation was clarified," said Inzaghi.

"If I had to score 69 goals to be the record holder then it would have been more difficult, but I would've given it a shot.

"I was very pleased to read Muller's compliments to me and I thank him, as these words fill me with pride. He was a fox in the box who lived off the service of his teammates, so we certainly have something in common!"

Curiously, he has found one goal in particular stood out for the fans – but it is not counted in the 63.

"Before my brace against Liverpool, the supporters used to thank me for the goal that beat Ajax 3-2 in the last minute, as that move took us to the 2003 Final in Manchester. However, I didn't score it!

"I did the lob, but Jon Dahl Tomasson tapped it over the line and the goal is credited to me. It is not among my 63, but that's the one people remember."

Inzaghi has no qualms over picking his own favourite goals in European club competition, though.

"A Final does make the difference. In 2003 I had scored many goals and won the trophy, but you cannot understand how it feels to score twice in a Champions League Final and win. I had nightmares, waking in the middle of the night thinking it had all been just a dream."

SuperPippo's next target is the Club World Cup, as the Rossoneri squad fly out to Japan today for the big tournament.

"It would be wonderful to complete the set after scoring this year in both the Champions League Final in Athens and the European Super Cup in Montecarlo.

"This trophy is our primary objective. Since we started out this new era in 2001 with fourth place in Serie A – which at the time seemed very difficult – we have won the Champions League twice and the Scudetto. All we need is the Club World Cup to say we have won everything. It would be fantastic."

The upcoming event in Japan has undoubtedly distracted Milan, who are struggling badly in Serie A this season.

"We have to remember there are other teams and we cannot always win, but we'll give it our all and when we return we can focus on recovering lost ground in Serie A."

　　机会总是眷顾有准备的人，属于因扎吉的历史时刻就在他一次又一次的积极前插中如期来到，下半场第70分钟，两名巴西人卡卡、卡福在右路打出精妙配合，卡福突破至底线后的传中将"超级皮波"终于迎来属于自己的颠峰时刻，意大利人门前3码处的机警推射让盖德-穆勒的进球记录就此作古。

　　看到今天这个生虎活虎的因扎吉，很难想像，早在2004年时候，因扎吉就险些告别职业足球。但是，福大命大的意大利人在遇到比利时医生马尔滕斯后竟然奇迹般的回到足球赛场。因扎吉这所以能够在其职业生涯末年仍然保持良好状态，这与其对于足球、对于比赛的超凡理解是有着必然联系的，在上赛季欧冠决赛中打入两球后，因扎吉曾说到：" 我天生就是一个乐观主义者，我对自己总是充满了信心，我像一个疯子一样热爱我的工作。"正是有着如此平和的心态，因扎吉得以以35岁的高龄仍然活跃在代表欧洲最高水平的冠军联赛中，可以肯定的是，目前的因扎吉还没有任何休停暂缓的意思，在打破进球记录之后，因扎吉还将以其稳定出色的发挥，将欧战进球记录提升至一个让人高山仰止的历史颠峰。（精灵）
